The Begining..

Before I start post bout ATLUS, here are some basic history. ATLUS (株式会社アトラス ,Kabushiki-gaisha atorasu)was established in 1986 and currently based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. They make games for just about every gaming system created, from the old console (NES, GameBoy, and SEGA Genesis) to next generation console (Nintendo Wii and XBox 360). Unfortunately most of the games are only made for Japanese speaking consumers but for the english version, this is where the US branch comes in.

ATLUS USA Inc was founded 1991 and are responsible in 'localizing' the games into english. they also act as publisher for ATLUS and non-ATLUS games. I feel that over the years they manage to capture the essence of what the games are conveying during the translation, which is important especially for RPG games.
